A FUN INFORMAL LUNCHEON TABLESETTING

When I decide to host a luncheon, not only do choose the menu carefully, I work hard at coordinating the table setting with their surroundings.

RULE 1: ALWAYS CHOOSE LOCATION OF TABLE/TABLES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

This is extremely important, as all of your table setting will revolve around the environment. In the photo below, I decided to let the summer breeze in and chose a spot near open french doors.



RULE 2: CHOOSE A "THREAD" AND STICK WITH IT.

I know, some of you think I am crazy, but the sooner you decide what is going to tie everything together, the better. Sometimes I use a color, sometimes a theme and sometimes I embrace the season.

Let your imagination go crazy, just remember to stay focused and stick with your "thread". In the example below, I used "Flowers" as my thread.



RULE 3: KEEP THE SETTING SIMPLE BUT USE YOUR IMAGINATION.

The KISS method always works...KEEP IT SIMPLE, STUPID...so don't be afraid to use it.

When I think the table is perfect, I chose 3 things to remove. It makes me prioritize my table in unexpected ways.

JUST A PEEK INTO MY NEW STUDIO DESIGN

I not only cleaned up my act in my studio, I redesigned it with bolder color and pizzaz. I love an all white room, but that has never been my style. I need color!!!! From my language, to my pillow...color, color, color...
I will get more to you soon, I promise. Now off to do my "How To" post, afterall, a promise is a promise.

INTRODUCING MY "HOW-TO" POSTING

I've been missing in action lately...the reason is simple. I've had the flu, been busy taking down Christmas decorations and I'm getting ready to decorate for Valentines Day.

BUT...also, I had a small, intimate afternoon tea party the other day, and my girl freinds.(also, my biggest fans) asked me to add some of my tablesetting skills to the blog...seems everyone CAN'T mix patterns, set a pretty table or think outside the box.

SOOOOOOO....I am going to start a "How-To" on my blog. I will start with setting an informal, mix and match table, with a few basic rules which I rely on. I hope it will help you look into your china cabinet and pull out some of those pieces you bought.."Just Because". Give me a few days to set it up, take and edit the photos and get it posted...

PIXIE and IVAN

Most of you know...Pixie stays mostly with Ivan. She still goes to work at the office everyday, and she spends the weekends with us sometimes, but mostly she is with Ivan.

It was love at first sight when they saw each other. Pixie loves Ivan as much as Ivan loves her. She stays in Ivans office at work as much as Jeds. So when it started getting too hard for us to keep up with her, we asked Ivan to help with her.

As usual, Ivan has our back, and stepped up to the plate. There are lots of reasons I love Ivan, but one of them is his kindness. He is the kindest person I know. He says things with kindness, and he trys to always act with kindness. I will always be thankful to have him in my life.

Anyway, he sent me this photo of "Our" pixie tonight, and I thought I would share it. Thanks Ivan, I love you!
